The fine print
- What this compares. Your current average power bill of $373 a month against your solar payment of $250.39 a month, over 25 years. Utility escalated at 13.5% per year, solar at 2.99% per year.
- Still connected to the grid. You are still connected to the utility grid and would be expected to pay a small fixed monthly rate, considered the standard connection fee.
- Ameren Illinois rates are moving. Ameren Illinois residential rates have climbed about 94% since 2021, from roughly 8 cents to about 15.5 cents per kWh in 2026. The supply portion alone rose again on June 1, 2026, going from 8.769 cents to about 11.3 cents per kWh, driven by ICC approved increases and a sharp rise in regional capacity prices. Past increases do not guarantee future ones.
